The huge gannet colony on Bonaventure Island is a peak experience for any naturalist. This is a bird lover paradise. Unfortunately, poor boat arrangements did not enable me to enjoy the experience to my heart delight, Still… except for Galapagos, second to none…Also, the amazing Perce rock, a geological marvel.
Acadia National Park, Blackwoods Campground is a good hub for exploring Acadia, a park rightfully deserving its reputation. Beauty is everywhere and glorious. Specifically, the Jordan Pond Loop Trail is a highly rewarding experience photographically and ecologically.
A bonanza for the body and spirit, climbing Mt. Cadillac South Ridge Trail was challenging, but doable. Meeting wonderful people and sharing food and life stories made the day. The landscape turned from forest to stark bedrock, but life still thrived in rain pools, enlivening the barren landscape. View from the top was wondrous.
Eagle Lake, Acadia National Park, ME. Circumnavigating the lake was a perfect way to round up my sola trip. Inexhaustible beauty, from smallest details of the forest floor to grand vistas of mountains in automn colors reflected in tranquil waters. Using walking path over carriage road made hike interesting.
Neot Kedumim is a reconstructed educational Biblical park in Central Israel. Photos were taken on a nice early spring day, with rich anemone blooms. Park features ancient agricultural devices and practices, ponds, waterwheel.
Israel Trail Sharon section between The Alexander and the Hadera “Rivers”. Dunes, eucalyptus forests, squatters colony, sculpture garden & industrial park. Another instance of the incredible variety of the little country in a 17-km stretch.
Einot Tzukim Nature Reserve is a gem of freshwater springs by the Dead Sea with recreational picnic and swimming options. Home to endemic & rich wildlife, some parts are restricted.
Herodium National Park features the magnificent Herodian palace-fortress and tomb complex, fascinating 360 views of Jerusalem and Judea and exquisite local flora.
Apollonia National Park has it all: wondrous flora on the unique kurkar cliffs- yellow primrose, sea lavender, impressive ruins from the last 2600 years, a Crusader fortress and a magnficent beach.
Beit Guvrin National Park, a World Heritage Site, features an extraordinary array of ancient man-made caves, carved in white chalk, and used for various purposes, from family burials to raising doves and pressing oil.
Mamshit National Park and World Heritage Site is an extraordinary testimony to the ancient Nabatean life, their extraordinary water technologies and the esthetics they brought to the sheer Negev desert. No other people has ever mastered the desert better.
Ein Avdat National Park – marvel in mid desert – a year-round flow from a hidden spring greens the desert, where a deep canyon digs into colorful sediments. Family hike. Spectacular views from top.
Ben Gurion Museum, house and tomb in Sde Boker manifest simplicity and dignity in stark contrast with leaders today. Magnificent views of the Negev desert surround the area, and ibex herds graze around.
Iyon Stream Nature Reserve in the very north of the country hosts the most spectacular waterfall in Israel. Even in summer, the park is rich in riparian vegetation and the water is replete with fish.
Snir Stream Nature Reserve in Upper Galilee provides visitors with the fun and thrill of walking in the gushing water. Rich vegetation, kids wading pools, and great Druse pita as you wait in line.
