Snowy Edom Mountains
Photo gallery. Edom Mountains snow. It actually snowed on the Jordanian Edom Mountains in Jordan the year of 2013, resulting in amazing views of snowy peaks in sheer desert, as viewed from the Israeli Arava Valley.

A small wooden house by a quaint Maine pond became my home away from home, Maine. Swimming, kayaking, sailing, picking blueberries and preparing for my upcoming sola camping trip in the north, I received the best possible hospitality and started to get acquianted with the natural beauty of the northeast.
Enchanted home of a great president, a bi-national park, beautiful bays, swamps and predatory plants. A foggy farewell to a magical island.
Climbing Mount Franey. Dragging behing all the younger folk, but nonetheless getting there. Exhilirating views. Worth every minute.
Gampo Abbey, Cape Breton. An inspirational visit to a Buddhist monastery and stupa located in Pleasant Bay, off the Cabot Trail., Grounds are beautifully maintained, creating a sense of the sacred. A nice climb leads to a mountain shrine. Stone panels in the stupa yard are inscribed with spiritual messages.
With incredible active geology and beautiful waterfalls, Sabbaday Falls easy trail, New Hampshire, is a great introduction to the wonders of the White Mountains. Hidden pools, multiple cascades, explanatory panels and safety rails.
Boulder Loop Trail, White Mountains, NH. An exhilirating climb led to opening vistas of mountains and forests from rock ledges. Glacial boulders covered in black lichen dotted the way. Using the interpretive trail map, I learned a lot about trees (including the amazing hemlocks), rocks and forest preservation.
Beauty upon beauty in the “horizontal” walk of Greeley Ponds. Enjoying the incredible vistas of gathering storm clouds over forested mountains, and huddling together with a group of scouts in a rain shelter, I started this incredibly rewarding walk in the rain, but soon it was dry enough to enjoy both the macro and the micro worlds that kept emerging around me, as well as some socializing opportunities..
Last sortie into the White Mountains at the magical Lost River Gorge and Caves easy access reserve. Roots make impossible overground journeys to provide trees with grounding and nutrients, water cascades down tunnels to erupt in beautiful waterfalls, boulders conceal caves, crevasses.
Lake Champlain Islands, VT. I reconnected with my water element on this set of beautiful islands, replete with history, geology, nature and atmsophere. I settled into Grand Isle State Park Campground, met some great people and trees on the beach, and at night, communed with the spirit of a magical tree.
Climbing two sections of Mount Whiteface, I saw how Nature takes after the Olympic human enterprise, how sunrays reflect back from mountain valleys into space and how a cloud collector in the Adirondacks measures pollution blowing over from Shanghai.
Beauty and more beauty. Wellesley Island Nature Center / State Park is full of water, life and geology. Paths are easy to walk / rewarding to the nature lover. The Eel Trail leads along the coast to the awesome Narrows. Pond loop peaceful, biologically rich. Encounter with a jolly Canadian girl adds a social dimension.
Such a rich and beautiful park. This time Pic Champlain and Les Anses trails.. Birds, seals, fantastic geology. Quiet, beautiful bays. After spending a second night in the cold, I had a shower crisis in the morning, which turned out an opportunity to meet a new friend.
Seasonal beauty on Road 132 from Perce, QC to the NB border. New Brunswick to Maine: In Campbelton, quaint bilingual border town, I heard local stories at the cozy Super 8 spa. Crossing the border at Van Buren was a bit challenging. I rounded up the day with a seafood meal in Machias, ME, and the Bluebird Motel.
Acadia National Park, Blackwoods Campground is a good hub for exploring Acadia, a park rightfully deserving its reputation. Beauty is everywhere and glorious. Specifically, the Jordan Pond Loop Trail is a highly rewarding experience photographically and ecologically.
