It’s the Location, Buddy
Be it on the RIng of Fire,
Or the Hurricane Trail,
The slaughterhouses of war
Or the flying nukes path…

As American doomsday preppers prepare for the apocalypse or the mega-tzunami, Israelis put their trust in the Mamad, or protected space. As to the “rest of the world”…
Tiger pants and tight leather,
Firm breasts over high heels
Wafts of air picking up mini skirts
Touching soft flesh
Coiled into ringed bellybuttons.
This year, statistics show that, on average, every Israeli will travel out of the country. Many go to India.
Syrian-African Rift pics were taken on a cloudy February day (2016) on a drive up north. Route 90 – the longest in Israel -reaches from Eilat in the South to Kiryat Shmona in the North. In the section shown in this gallery, the road passes very near the Jordanian border.
Gallery Minus 430 – the lowest gallery on Earth. On walls of an abandoned Jordanian military base a national and international art project decries the destruction of the Dead Sea.
Why Israelis go to India? This first post enumerates the more obvious reasons – fun, escape, learn, shanti, post-army, herd, cheap, the Hummus trail infrastructure, adventure, and, of course – Incredible India. Sequel: non-obvious reasons.
Less obvious reasons Israelis to India include personal issues, spiritual needs, religious quest, national / existential issues, a strong need for answers. Israelis are perfectly suited to bridge East and West in the Indian setting, and India is a perfect simulation for what peace could look like.
My personal spiritual salad is based in some Jewish ideas, with a melange of Eastern, American Indian and other elements, including my childhood books, with an emphasis on physical practices and the connection body-mind. Sufi Festival, 2019, Ashram Bamidbar, Israel. A wonderful celebration of love, spirituatliy, openess. Great music and dance performances with full audience participation. A variety of enlightening workshops in music, dance, writing, spirit and understanding. Inspirational setup in the deep desert of the Arava.
Ben Gurion’s political genius enabled him to dismantle the pre-state militias on both sides of the political spectrum, and merge them into the emerging IDF. It hasn’t been easy, but the state would not have survived otherwise. I elaborate about the healthy foundations of Israel. Make comparisons to the American situation.
To the Ethiopians, I am Faranji,
To the Sephardi – Ashkenazi,
To the Japanese, – Geijin,
To the Mexicans – Gringa.
To the Palestinians – an invader…
A poetic search for a positive identity among multiple social negative ones.
Ben Gurion Museum, house and tomb in Sde Boker manifest simplicity and dignity in stark contrast with leaders today. Magnificent views of the Negev desert surround the area, and ibex herds graze around.
Israel rising – Bibi uses the coronavirus crisis to escape trial, establish dictatorship. We, aware citizen, won’t let him. First post in series about protests and spirit you do not hear much on the mainstream media, here or abroad.
The submarine flotilla cross country event was one of the largest and better organized events of the Israeli anti-Netanyahu protest movement. I am trying to do it justice, since the compromised mainstream media largely chose, or was instructed, to ignore it.
