Snir Stream Nature Reserve – Wading the Waters
Snir Stream Nature Reserve in Upper Galilee provides visitors with the fun and thrill of walking in the gushing water. Rich vegetation, kids wading pools, and great Druse pita as you wait in line.

Iyon Stream Nature Reserve – And Tanur Waterfall
Iyon Stream Nature Reserve in the very north of the country hosts the most spectacular waterfall in Israel. Even in summer, the park is rich in riparian vegetation and the water is replete with fish.

Ben Gurion Museum Sde Boker – Lessons in Simplicity
Ben Gurion Museum, house and tomb in Sde Boker manifest simplicity and dignity in stark contrast with leaders today. Magnificent views of the Negev desert surround the area, and ibex herds graze around.

Ein Avdat National Park -Negev’s Ultimate Oasis
Ein Avdat National Park – marvel in mid desert – a year-round flow from a hidden spring greens the desert, where a deep canyon digs into colorful sediments. Family hike. Spectacular views from top.

Mamshit National Park – Desert Traders’ Rich Enclave
Mamshit National Park and World Heritage Site is an extraordinary testimony to the ancient Nabatean life, their extraordinary water technologies and the esthetics they brought to the sheer Negev desert. No other people has ever mastered the desert better.

Beit Guvrin National Park – Caves, Figs and Doves
Beit Guvrin National Park, a World Heritage Site, features an extraordinary array of ancient man-made caves, carved in white chalk, and used for various purposes, from family burials to raising doves and pressing oil.

The Banias Nature Reserve – Trails of Beauty, History
Banias Nature Reserve, hosting a major source of the Jordan River, is an incredible historical and ecological site in the Northern Golan. Rich in vegetation and natural beauty, it served historically as a worship site for the Greek god Pan and the nymphs.

Kaima Organic Farm – A Win-Win-Win Enterprise
Kaima Organic Farm is a sustainable model for the future: a win-win-win situation for the planet, the country, the consumers and the dropout kids who work on the farm. It is also a model for renewal of the pinoeer spirit in a new format.

Tel Dan Nature Reserve – Main Source of Jordan River
Tel Dan Nature reserve hosts the largest, most vigorous tributary of the Jordan River. Lush vegetation year-round, ancient grand trees, historical sites go back to Canaanite period. AND: fantastic fish restaurant/farm nearby.

The Big Submarine March & Israel’s Politicized Police
The Big Submarine March from Hemed to Jerusalem was brutally obstructed by police, who dumped the subs on the roadsides, arrested protesters and blocked the road, yet we arrived triumphantly at Balfour, subs and all.

Cross-Country Submarine Flotilla & the Missing Media
The submarine flotilla cross country event was one of the largest and better organized events of the Israeli anti-Netanyahu protest movement. I am trying to do it justice, since the compromised mainstream media largely chose, or was instructed, to ignore it.

Crime Minister and Israel Rising: Protesting Netanyahu
Israel rising – Bibi uses the coronavirus crisis to escape trial, establish dictatorship. We, aware citizen, won’t let him. First post in series about protests and spirit you do not hear much on the mainstream media, here or abroad.

Likir, Ladakh – Looking for “Baby”, Finding a Family
I arrived at Likir, Ladakh by chance, planning to go on the “Baby” trek, and had the best experience of my India trip. Homestaying with a wonderful family, eating in the field with the farmers after the harvest, peace, tranquility, beauty.

Udaipur on Rivers IV – Lake Pichola Boat Ride
Lake Pichola Boat Ride – wonderful opportunity to see the palaces on the islands and the shores. Magical sail. No need to pay for official tours.

Udaipur on Rivers III – Udaipur City Palace
Udaipur City Palace is an outstanding example of Indian architecture, art and the co-creation of the human with the landscape to the benefit of both. A must see!

Israeli Phenomenon in India Part 4 – The Spiritual Scene
The home-made Israeli spiritual scene in India ranges from the orthodox Beit Chabad to the innovative Beit Bina with the “Jewish Heart” in between. They all provide a warm home but with some strings attached, and a “protection” from the surrounding overwhelming “spiritual salad”.

The Israeli Phenomenon in India Part 5 – Music, Grass and the Spiritual Salad
Music, grass and the spiritual salad – the three occupations of Israelis in India outside of shopping… Western, Jewish and israeli involvement in Indian spiritual paths create interesting fusions that transform Israeli society, Judaism and India.

India’s Garbage Problem. Who Cleans India?
India’s garbage problem is vast. Animals clean but also trash. Environmental education is a drop in bucket. Infrastructure is lacking since most people don’t pay tax. Cleaning is highly gendered.

The Tamed Shrew
What a waste
The tamed shrew –
She could have won an Olympic gold,
She could have been a magnificent mime,
She could have written plays better than Shakespeare,
Excuse the sacrilege

Letter to the Americas
Dear New Worlders,
We heard about your latest mass shooting ,
So we thought we’ll just mention, if we may,
that
Oh, we’ve seen it all already –

The Pursuit of Happiness
Happiness pursues me
But she is not my match.
I will always beat her
In this game of catch.

Galleries
Since a big part of this website is dedicated to world traveling, this collection of photo galleries is focused on the beauty, variety and creativity of the Land of Israel. An emphasis on the desert will soon be balanced with more pictures from the North and Center.
